Been Exposed (or possibly exposed) to HIV in the past 72 hours?

Non-occupational Post Exposure Prophylaxis (nPEP) is available to prevent a person who is exposed to HIV from becoming positive. It is imperative that you start medication as soon as possible and within 72 hours of exposure. You are at substantial risk for acquiring HIV is you have had exposure of the vagina, anus/rectum, eye, mouth, or other mucous membrane, non-intact skin or a needle stick with blood, seman, vaginal secretions, rectal secretions, breast milk, or any body fluid that is visibly contaminated with blood. If you know or are unsure if the person you have contact has HIV nPEP is your best means of staying HIV negative
